Here's what you're going to get on DVD 1
- Right from the start, you'll hear me using NLP to teach NLP, nesting loops, embedding commands & using powerful presuppositions to embed the learnings in your unconscious, as well as your conscious mind (after all, you'll be watching & listening to the DVDs with your conscious mind too!)
- You may be shocked to discover that there's no such thing as a limiting belief. But you'll be even more shocked to discover why that's GREAT NEWS when it comes to changing the beliefs you perceive as limiting you.
- If you've ever found learning to be a struggle, you're going to enjoy having it powerfully & deeply reframed into a fun & natural process (I use a contrast frame to do this – after all, contrast is the basic unit of learning.)
- You may not realise that you already do Sleight of Mouth, but you do. Its how you keep your beliefs in place & make your world make sense. Later on in the programme, you'll see me do a demo with Diana, where I get her to demonstrate the natural, automatic sleight of mouth patterns that she didn't even realise she knew!
- You may have heard that every behaviour has a positive intention. What you may not know is why it's like that, & how every belief has a positive intention (even the ones that really annoy you!) This is like the “secret sauce” of belief change, the thing that let's you eliminate resistance at a stroke.
- You'll see me using a powerful technique to create a seperate channel for the conscious & unconscious mind, to let me communicate with the unconscious (this was one of Milton Erickson's favourite tools).
- You'll see a demonstration of “opposition response”, a function of our mammal brain. This is one of the biggest things that trips up coaches & therapists alike, but you're going to learn how to avoid triggering it.
- You'll learn about the qualities of beliefs, before learning about the underlying PHYSICAL structure of beliefs (I can guarantee you haven't learned about this anywhere else, yet it's pivotal to doing effective belief-change work).
- You'll hear the story of my public-speaking phobia, & why this is relevant to the whole area of belief change.
- You're going to discover the belief-change double-bind, a trap that almost all NLPers fall into when doing changework. If you've ever had a client say “I can't do X, because I lack confidence”, then tried to give them confidence, you've probably fallen into this trap.
- You'll learn where beliefs come from in the first place.
- You'll see me do a demo with a guy who doesn't believe he can learn sleight of mouth, or that it can work for him. He says he can change his beliefs intellectually, but they don't feel like they've changed. (if you've ever had your doubts about this, or haven't been able to get Bandler's submodality belief-change to work, you'll want to pay close attention).
- You'll hear the presuppositions of NLP in a whole different light. If “there's no failure only feedback” doesn't seem real to you yet, you're in for a treat. Best of all, you're going to learn the single most powerful presupposition when it comes to belief-change (you probably haven't heard this one before, unless it was from me or Chris Hall).
- You'll discover a simple secret that lets you know when someone has run into the unconscious kinaesthetic that's been holding them back. You'll end up using this tool in nearly every session you do.
- You're going to learn my strategies for dealing with people who don't know what they want.
- You'll see me do a demonstration with a guy who doesn't realise he can go for what he really wants (did you know that it's easier to get what you really want than what you think you can get?). His “magic minute” is priceless – he gives me the clues I need before he even gets to the front of the room!
- All of this has been in preparation for choosing a big goal that really matters to you, but that you may not have been accomplishing because of some limitation. We're going to use this as your big example for doing belief change!
- Ideals: They're great for setting direction, but they're rubbish when it comes to measuring progress. You're going to learn why, & what you can do about it. (If you've been saying “I'll be happy when...”, you need to hear this).
- You're going to learn the most shocking thing I know about human perception. This is where I say to my students “If it doesn't shock you - I mean completely blow your mind - you don't understand it yet!”
- You'll see me do another demo, where I work with a person's spontaneous metaphors (metaphors he wasn't even aware of) to massively shift his experience, & help him start refocusing on what's important.
- We're going to round out the first DVD by explaining the essential difference between fear & anxiety, a difference that can make a huge difference in your life, & the lives of your clients.

Here's what you're going to get on DVD 3
- A review & integration trance to hypnotically wire in the learnings from the programme, so far.
- You'll hear my semantically loaded backtrack & future pace questions. The first time you hear them, you probably won't even be aware of all the presuppositions that are stacked into them, but I'll unpack them for you later (the unconscious mind actually runs on presuppositions, so they're one of the most powerful tools there is).
- I'll demonstrate Deep Criteria Elicitation, a powerful way to connect with a person's deepest, most closely held values (this is super-valuable, whether you're doing changework, sales or any other kind of influence).
- You'll also get one of the most powerful frames there is for understanding how people have been creating their reality, & how to change it so you create the reality you desire.
- You're going to learn how to recognise people's hot buttons, & use them to help make changes (this includes people's most powerful “buy this now” buttons, too).
- You'll get one of my favourite metaphors for Sleight of Mouth (I use tons of metaphors in this programme to install the learnings unconsciously. In fact, one of the ways I learned to do NLP was by listening to the metaphors great trainers used & asking myself “For what purpose are they using that metaphor?”)
- You're also going to learn how to elicit the sensory structure of beliefs (these are the train tracks that beliefs run on).
- I often ask people “What motivated you to take action to keep developing your NLP skills?” I'm going to tell you what motivated me – this was the event that made me so passionate about language, the point I told myself “You're going to do whatever it takes to master this stuff!”.
- You're going to learn about how beliefs work, as well as the importance of certainty, uncertainty & probability (this is crucial to really understanding the meaning of the NLP presupposition, “the map is not the territory”.
- You're also going to get lots of examples of the particpants' “I can't...” statements – these are the beliefs they've been perceiving as limiting, & that we're about to change, together.
- Then we start piling into the sleight of mouth patterns themselves...
1) Sleight of mouth pattern 1 – Did you know that you can change a belief just by changing a single word or phrase in it? You'll discover how with this deceptively simple pattern.
2) Sleight of mouth pattern 2 - Changing the a person's time-frame around a belief can be profound (in fact I'll be showing you how to use time-shifting in all the work you do).
3) Sleight of mouth pattern 3 – Patterns for doing "belief-change Aikido". These are my favourite sleight-of-mouth patterns, because they instantly get the belief working to change itself!
4) Sleight of mouth pattern 4 – A tool for helping the person themselves to find the proof that a limiting belief isn't true - you'll also discover why exaggeration is a million times more important than you may have realised :-)
- I'll wrap up DVD 3 by showing you how to detect someone's natural, automatic sleight of mouth patterns (these are the patterns you use to convince yourself!)
Here's what you're going to get on DVD 4
DVD 4 starts with a demonstration of me working with Diana, who has a limiting belief about creating a successful business, because she's a single mum. The first few minutes show Diana using spontaneous Sleight of Mouth to keep her belief in place. I use my questions & comments to subtly presuppose change (right from the first question). As you continue watching, you'll see me
- Eliciting the belief's structure
- Using Columbo-style “just one more thing” interrupts
- Using playful, provocative approaches to deepen rapport
- Uncovering the belief's positive intention
- Eliciting motivation, purpose, values & criteria
- Folding the structure of the belief in on itself
- Integrating parts
- Mirroring gestures & using keywords
- Using time language & future pacing
All of this, in the course of a conversation! As usual, watch it once for pure enjoyment, then again & again to track the different layers.
Next, I'll take you through some of my favourite NLP coaching questions (I'll also show you the fastest way I know to integrate these questions into your everyday behaviour – you're going to make them automatic).
- Sleight of mouth pattern 5, 6 & 7 – Three related patterns for changing the frame size of a belief. This is one of the most powerful patterns there is for belief-change. You may even have heard it used by amazing speakers like Gandhi or JFK. You'll learn how to apply it using perspectives, numbers & time. Dynamite!
- Next, I'm going to show you a simple exercise for developing your ability to develop powerful new perspectives, quickly & easily. These are the kinds of reframes that help you get a reputation for being a wildly creative & original thinker.
- Your ability to negotiate is a core life skill, whether you're doing a business deal, persuading your child to accept your values & resist peer pressure, or finding common ground with your partner so you can both enjoy your connections more deeply. You'll be developing essential skills for enjoying win:win:win outcomes.
- You'll also learn about how to avoid over-generalisation, the kind of trap that leads to model-fundamentalism, & contributes to terrorism, racism, & the kind of intolerance experienced by so many people.

- Like I promised, you'll see me unpacking the backtrack & future-pace questions from earlier in the programme, uncovering the powerful presuppositions in the language. - Sleight of mouth pattern 8 – A way to direct a person's attention to something they hadn't even thought of, & change the belief in the process (this is akin to 'redirection' used by magicians).
- Sleight of mouth pattern 9 - One of my favourite patterns for skilfully discombobulating a limiting belief, & getting them to imagine a new, empowering reality!
- Sleight of mouth pattern 10 - A pattern for bringing the consequence of a belief into awareness (use this carefully, because you can get some really powerful shifts using this pattern).
- Sleight of mouth pattern 11 - Everyone has values, the things that are important to you. This pattern allows you to re-evaluate the belief using what's most important to a person, with dramatic effects.
- Sleight of mouth pattern 12 - A pattern you can use to generate powerful metaphors & analogies to instantly & deeply reframe a limiting belief (I'll also share some of my favourite uses of metaphor with you.)
- Sleight of mouth pattern 13 - A variation that you can use to completely change the focus of a belief (this has to be handled with care – rapport is absolutely essential for this one, or it could blow up in your face).
- Sleight of mouth pattern 14 – Use this to get a person to go outside their limited model of themselves & their world, & start instantly seeing new empowering possibilites (you'll see me demonstrate this with a client who says “I can't make a good living as a coach because I'm not qualified enough” - then you'll see me blow it out the window.)
- Sleight of mouth pattern 15 - A couple of patterns for chunking down into the belief & beyond (you'll see me demo this with a woman whose belief was “I can't lose weight” - within a few moments, you'll see her having a powerful shift).
- Sleight of mouth pattern 16 - A pattern for finding out how they've been gluing the belief together, & simultaneously inviting them show you the sensory aspects of the belief (we all do this – this is how you know the difference between fantasy & reality, & it's one of my favourite patterns).
- Now I know that may seem like a lot of patterns, but you're going to get tons of demonstrations, examples & an exercise for each pattern to ensure you wire them in. Better yet, you'll have the underlying structures that the patterns run on, so you'll continue developing your intuitions about what to use when & with whom, long into the future.
